DAVAO CITY — The Regional Development Committee–Mindanao Area Committee (RDCOM–MAC) held its 41st Conference and Reorganization in Davao City, marking a significant milestone in Mindanao’s interregional development leadership with the election of new officers.
Regional Development Council leaders from across Mindanao convened at the Park Inn by Radisson to discuss organizational matters and priority development concerns affecting the island’s regions. The gathering also served as the venue for the committee’s reorganization and leadership transition.
During the reorganization, Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal, who also serves as Chairperson of the Regional Development Council of Region X, was unanimously elected as RDCOM–MAC Chairperson. Cotabato Governor Emmylou J. Taliño-Mendoza, Chairperson of RDC XII, was elected as Co-Chairperson.

Governor Oaminal’s election marks the first time a representative from Region X will lead the interregional committee—an achievement that brings pride to the province of Misamis Occidental and the entire Northern Mindanao region.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Oaminal emphasized the shared responsibility of Mindanao’s leaders in shaping the nation’s future, echoing a message from the President. “We heard the President say, the future of Mindanao is the hope of all the Philippines. Let us put that into action,” he said.
Additionally, Oaminal hopes to push for a Mindanao-wide vision of Asenso, steadily growing from Asenso Misamis Occidental, to Mas Asenso Northern Mindanao, and now, One Asenso Mindanao.
The RDCOM–MAC serves as the coordinating body for development planning among Mindanao’s regions, working to align regional programs, address common development challenges, and elevate policy concerns to the national government.
Following operational updates and the presentation of the committee’s accomplishment report covering the years 2023 to 2025, the council formally moved forward with its newly elected officers and development priorities for the next term./PGMO
