Misamis OccidentalâGovernor Henry S. Oaminal remains deeply committed to the children at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Refuge (AMOR), a safe haven for survivors of abuse. During his recent visit, he reassured the children that the provincial government will continue to cover all their living, educational, and therapeutic expenses, allowing them to focus on healing and their studies.

âFocus on finishing school so that you can find good jobs in the future,â he emphasized, promising to support them in securing employment after graduation. He encouraged them to âforget the past, learn from it, but donât dwell on it. I will do the worrying and seek justice for each of you.â His compassionate words were meant to alleviate their burdens and inspire hope for a brighter future. He also reminded them not to forget to pray every day, as faith can be a source of strength.

Governor Oaminal highlighted the importance of respecting those who support them on their healing journey. He shared core values that embody the spirit of a Misamisnon: matinahuron (respectful), matinud-anon (honest), matinabangon(helpful), and mahigugmaon (loving).
In the spirit of the season, the governor presented Christmas gifts to the children, encouraging them to save money in their bank accounts and to purchase only what is essential.
The visit concluded with a shared lunch, fostering heartfelt connections and support among the children and the governor.
Through his regular visits, Governor Oaminal reinforces the importance of education and the shelter as their family, leaving the children feeling valued and hopeful for their futures. His ongoing commitment to their well-being continues to uplift the young residents of AMOR. (Lorelei Cagas)
