
Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental — Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal immediately started the 2026 working year with decisive action and strong leadership, signaling a productive return to work anchored on service, reforms, and people-centered governance.
On his first working day of 2026, January 5, Governor Oaminal led the provincial flag-raising ceremony, urging provincial employees to elevate and institutionalize their commitment and hard work in public service.
He then held high-level meetings with the chiefs of the five provincial hospitals to further strengthen hospital operations and management.
On the same day, he also convened the Provincial Tourism Office, where Governor Oaminal, together with provincial officials and department heads, assessed its accomplishments and 2026 action plan, enhancing the direction of tourism programs in the province.
On January 6, Governor Oaminal had a series of key engagements, including his attendance at the Seminar on the Handbook on Financial Transactions of the Sangguniang Kabataan, where he delivered an important message urging youth leaders to practice financial independence, transparency, and accountability.
Governor Oaminal likewise presided over the oath-taking of the newly elected Federated Association of Barangay Captains of Misamis Occidental, affirming a unified and strengthened frontline of grassroots governance across the province.
Further advancing development initiatives, the Governor met with the Board of Directors of MOELCI-II to address pressing concerns and enhance cooperative services for the benefit of Misamisnons.
In agriculture, the Provincial Agriculture Office presented its accomplishments and proposed work plans for 2026, which were thoroughly assessed by Governor Oaminal together with Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and department heads.
The assessment focused on strengthening the rice program, expanding high-value crops, advancing coconut development, enhancing fisheries support, and implementing the ambitious One Million Trees Program—setting a clear direction toward sustainable and inclusive growth.
