MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL ā Despite long-held misconceptions about Mindanao, the province is emerging as a secure and promising destination for foreign investment, as Korean investors explored tourism spots and agricultural products during the three-day tour.
Provincial and local government officials, together with members of the business sector, held an open forum with the Korean delegation led by Governor Henry S. Oaminal. The discussion focused on investment opportunities, policy support, and the provinceās development priorities under the Asenso Administration.
During the dialogue, Korean investors shared inputs on tourism development, particularly for Asenso Global Gardens and the Asenso Misamis Occidental Recreation and Adventure Park (AMORAP), identifying potential areas for collaboration and enhancement.

Investor Yejee Yoon of Kyung In REITs Corporation expressed, āWe often receive messages saying that Mindanao is a dangerous place.ā However, Yoon emphasized that once investors are able to experience Misamis Occidental firsthand, it is not difficult to break long-held perceptions. She added that the province can effectively leverage its history and culture as strong drivers for tourism development.
The investors toured tourism destinations including Piduan, Sapang Dalaga Falls, and the Caluya Floating Cottages, highlighting the provinceās natural attractions and growing tourism sector.

The investors were also introduced to agricultural initiatives, including cacao farms in Jimenez and coffee production areas in Barangay Nueva Vista, Don Victoriano, where potential partnerships were discussed to expand agri-based investments and strengthen value-chain development.
With growing opportunities in tourism, agriculture, and other priority sectors, Misamis Occidental hopes to position itself as a secure and investment-ready provinceāopen not only to Mindanao, but to global partners seeking sustainable and inclusive growth./PGMO
