MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL — Governor Henry S. Oaminal said the recent three-day exploratory visit of Korean investors reflects growing confidence in Misamis Occidental despite existing foreign travel advisories affecting Mindanao.

The governor acknowledged that some foreign governments, including the Republic of Korea, have issued ā€œred advisoriesā€ discouraging travel to Northern Mindanao, but stressed that these are based on outdated perceptions rather than current realities.

Governor Oaminal said the Provincial Government is working closely with the national government, particularly the Department of National Defense and the Department of Foreign Affairs, to correct misconceptions on peace and order.

He emphasized that Misamis Occidental is now almost drug-cleared and insurgency-free, with security conditions significantly improved compared to previous years.

Despite the advisory, Korean investors proceeded with site inspections and discussions on potential investments, particularly in tourism and agriculture, including a proposed golf course at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Resort and Aquamarine Park (AMORAP) and a possible cable car project at Asenso Global Gardens.

Governor Oaminal said technical teams are expected to arrive soon, calling the investors’ interest a strong start for 2026 as the province builds on its 7.5 percent economic growth in 2024 under the Asenso Misamis Occidental development agenda. (SMR/PGMO)
