Misamis Occidental—Senatorial aspirant Luis “Manong Chavit” Singson visited Misamis Occidental on Wednesday, December 18, as part of his nationwide campaign to engage with communities and promote his platforms for progress.

Singson attended the Pamaskong Handog 2024 events in Ozamiz and Tangub City, where he was warmly welcomed by Governor Henry S. Oaminal, Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez, local board members, and mayors.

Governor Oaminal expressed his gratitude for Singson’s visit, praising his efforts to bring development to the province. He voiced confidence in Singson’s leadership and his capacity to drive transformative change at the national level.

One of Singson’s key advocacy projects is the Jeepney Modernization Initiative, which aims to modernize the public transportation system by replacing outdated jeepneys with eco-friendly, efficient vehicles.

Singson also highlighted his VBank Initiative, a digital financial platform designed to help small businesses, farmers, and entrepreneurs in Misamis Occidental access much-needed financing. This initiative could diversify the local economy by fostering growth in manufacturing and services, while also reducing the risks associated with cash transactions and boosting long-term economic resilience.

Another program Singson introduced is the Chavit 500 Universal Basic Income Program, which aims to provide financial stability to low-income families. This initiative seeks to reduce poverty, ensure children stay in school, prevent child labor, and strengthen household resilience during times of disaster.

To add excitement to the Pamaskong Handog, 20 lucky beneficiaries were selected to receive VBank cash transfers worth ₱10,000 each.

During his visit, Singson also participated in a press conference, where he connected with media and leaders of the transport sector. He took the opportunity to discuss his vision for modernizing public vehicles and boosting the industry’s economic activities.

Throughout the visit, Singson engaged with residents, barangay leaders, and local officials, discussing his vision for the province under his campaign slogan, “May Isang Salita”. With his leadership, Manong Chavit aims to bring meaningful development and progress to Misamis Occidental.
