Through the years, the Province of Misamis Occidental dared to rise in response to the demands of progress. Through the collaborative efforts of the whole ASENSO Team, Misamis Occidental is gaining momentum as its socio-economic growth is continuously rising and is earning a place of pride in the Northern Mindanao region and in the country. As an agri-fishery and eco-cultural tourism province, the Provincial Government and the Misamisnons are working hand-in-hand to achieve its collective vision of ASENSO MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL guided by our 5Ms Development Thrust of “Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon” (Misamisnon Living Peacefully, Progressively and Happily).
At its core, peace and development are inseparable concepts that form the bedrock of a thriving society. It fosters stability and security within communities. Our goal is to keep a safe and secure environment for our constituents characterized by lower crime rates, better governance, and stronger social cohesion through the implementation of various programs which includes the acquisition and distribution of rescue and patrol vehicles to different barangays, and provision of cash rewards to rebel returnees. Such programs have helped us achieve a peaceful and insurgency-free province that we are today.
To ensure sustainable economic development, we are dedicated to creating more job opportunities, supporting local businesses, and attracting new investments to open more aggressive income-generating initiatives. In addition, we have been helping our local farmers through the provision of free support services from land preparation to harvest including the provision of free fertilizers, free use of tractors and farm implements, seeds, and technical assistance under the Asenso Rice Farmers Full Assistance (ARFFA) Program.
We recognize the pivotal role that tourism plays in stimulating economic development. By leveraging our unique attractions in the province like the Asenso Global Gardens (AGG) and Asenso Misamis Occidental Resort and Aquamarine Park (AMORAP) dubbed as the Maldives of Mindanao, we can positively impact the economy and with the multiplier effect tourism industry brings – retail, transportation, infrastructure and other tourism -related industries is a surefire avenue that will improve the economic status of Misamisnons.
Social development is equally important. We are working to enhance access to education with the implementation of the One Family One Professional (OFOP) Program which provides financial subsidies to grantees to support their education, board and lodging in the amount of Php 25,000 per semester or Php 50,000 per year.
As to healthcare and other social services, we intend to continually provide quality services in the province with our newly built Asenso Misamis Occidental Medical Center, implementation of Free Hospitalization Program, and assistance to vulnerable and marginalized sectors among others.
We cannot achieve these goals without the proper support, cooperation, and participation of all Misamisnons. Through unity and understanding, we will provide opportunities for everyone to live peacefully, progressively, and happily to achieve our vision of ASENSO MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL!
