Misamis Occidental – Senator Imee Marcos and Deputy Speaker Camille Villar graced the 3rd Perangat Festival 2024 in Misamis Occidental, an event that celebrated the province’s rich cultural heritage and the strong sense of unity among its people. The festival, which brought together performers and communities from across Mindanao, was a vibrant display of tradition, creativity, and local pride.

In her heartfelt message, Senator Marcos expressed her gratitude for being part of the festivities and highlighted the significance of the occasion.
“Happy po ako na nandito at makausa pa akong magpasalamat sa matag-usa nga nitambong karon sa 95th Birthday Provincial Anniversary. Dili lang kini usa ka celebration sa atong mga nahimo sa miaging tuig, apan usa usab kini ka selebrasyon sa mauswagon nga kaugmaon sa Misamis Occidental,” Senator Marcos said.
She praised the province’s progress and growth, acknowledging the collective efforts of local officials, communities, and especially the Subanen indigenous peoples for their role in shaping the success of the province.
“Kanindot ug kadako gyud sa atong venue diri sa Misamis Occidental. Congratulations, so much to be grateful for, kay tinuod nga limpyo ug tinud-anay ang serbisyo ng ating gobernador, mga opisyales, ug sa tanan, ilabi na sa Subanen IP ng Misamis Occidental,” Senator Marcos added.
Deputy Speaker Camille Villar, who has represented Las Piñas in the House of Representatives since 2019 and has served as Deputy Speaker since 2022, also joined in celebrating the festival. She emphasized the importance of cultural events like the Perangat Festival not only for Misamis Occidental but for the entire nation.

“It was such a joy to be part of this year’s Perangat Festival in the beautiful province of Misamis Occidental. Initiatives like this festival are a testament to the unity and love for culture, and it’s something we should all be proud of. The Perangat Festival showcases the unique traditions of this province—from the traditional dances that tell the story of Misamis Occidental, to the colorful decorations and rituals that celebrate our shared history,” said Deputy Speaker Villar.
She continued, “This festival reminds us of the importance of preserving our culture and traditions, as they form the foundation of our history and identity as a province and as a nation.”
Both leaders expressed their optimism for the future of Misamis Occidental, noting how the province continues to improve and grow.

“Every time I return to Misamis Occidental, I can see how much it has progressed. It’s truly uplifting to witness the development happening here. But I believe that the true wealth of Misamis Occidental lies in its people,” said Villar.
She also extended her congratulations to the organizers, performers, and everyone involved in making the festival a success, commending their talent and creativity.
“The Perangat Festival is growing bigger and better every year, and I’m excited to see it continue to thrive in the years to come,” she concluded.
